HCQS’s contract and legal support consultants provide reliable, pragmatic advice and support in relation to matters affecting construction contracts.
HCQS regularly review terms and conditions on behalf of its clients, both pre and post contract, in order to identify areas of risk and opportunity. HCQS are also experienced at drafting bespoke conditions of contract.
Contract Claims
HCQS’s contract and legal support consultants are all experienced in the defence or preparation of claims for extensions of time, loss and/or expense, damages, disruption and variations.
It is further recognised that many contracts impose strict procedures upon the parties, which must be complied with if compensation is to be successfully claimed. HCQS’s understanding of contractual mechanisms enables it to inform and/or manage its clients’ compliance with such procedures in order to safeguard their rights.
Dispute Management
HCQS’s extensive experience of construction contracts and dispute resolution procedures allows it to effectively advise its clients on the most appropriate settlement strategy.
Project Audits / Health Checks
HCQS offer an independent project audit or health check, which can be tailored to your specific requirements but fundamentally aims to review the key indicators of risk and opportunity within a project and identifies what, if anything, needs addressing so that they can be resolved in a timely manner with a plan to mitigate risks and/or realize opportunities. The health check could include independent review of:
- Progress against the Schedule;
- Forecast out-turn costs including subcontractor liabilities;
- Recovery against variations and claims for additional costs;
- Not identifying and managing risks and/or opportunities;
- Declaring margin that is not secure or cash-backed or hiding margin; and
- Compliance with internal governance procedures

By working with the client’s legal team, HCQS can help reduce costs by providing independent, pragmatic advice, forensic analysis and audits combined with its expert experience and knowledge in preparing and/or reviewing quantum and delay issues.Â
